Description

A Mae West Famous Marble Statue, Circa 1935. Depicting the star in a classical pose in the nude, her left arm raised above her head and a drape resting on her right arm, round base reads "Portrait / Mae West / By Gladys Lewis Bush;" included with a typed letter dated "May 8, 1935" noting how West herself commissioned this piece and how the sculptress agreed to make identical versions in plaster for "Miss West for reproduction and sale of copies;" interestingly, West was photographed many times in the next 40+ years in her various homes where this (or one of the plaster versions that were slightly different) could be seen prominently displayed -- most notably atop her piano in her Ravenswood apartment on Rossmore Avenue in Los Angeles; included with a signed 'Letter of Provenance' from John West, Mae's nephew. (Please note this piece has been repaired over the years but still looks great on sight.)
    Height: 29"
