A James Dean Drawing, Circa 1955. Rendered in green ballpoint ink on a paper napkin, depicting an image of a man holding a watermelon with two other men in profile behind him, caption penned in Dean's hand below reads "I am not a Jew." (Please note this piece is somewhat yellowed due to age.)
    8 1/2" x 4"

Dean frequently drew sketches like this on napkins when he was in restaurants, especially at Googie's, the famous diner on Sunset Boulevard at Crescent Heights in Los Angeles. Many have come up at auction over the years and many depict the same "theme" of being an actor bound to the studio system in Hollywood.
