Motiograph Rare Hand-Cranked Silent Film Projector (1909). This century-old rare hand-cranked theater projector is a stunning relic from the pioneer filmmaking era that saw the rise of D. W. Griffith, Mack Sennett, Cecil B. DeMille, and other greats. It consists of two large reel housings, lens, electrified light housing, slide bar, and the three original adjustable knobs that control the intensity of the light source, all mounted to a wooden base supported by four telescoping legs (replacements for the originals). The electric light source no longer functions, but the hand-crank still turns smoothly. The camera no longer attaches to the base; otherwise, the projector is in overall Fine condition. Previously auctioned through Profiles in History in 2002. Requires third party shipping.
