The Women of "Gone with the Wind" and Others (Vivien Leigh, Hattie McDaniel, etc.) Signed Copy of the Novel "Gone with the Wind," 1939, by Margaret Mitchell. An August 1936 edition, hardcover, no dust jacket, published by The MacMillan Company, 1,037 pages, from the personal library of Nell Kurtz Fambrough, the daughter of Wilbur G. Kurtz, Sr. [historian and consultant hired to work on the set of "GWTW" to ensure accuracy] who obtained the signatures in this book for his daughter; all penned in black or blue fountain pen ink on the inside front cover or front free end pages, autographs include those of all the main female characters as well as many others including (in alphabetical order):-Marie Bryan (Ona Munson's stand-in)

PROVENANCE:
This lot was consigned by descendants of Wilbur G. Kurtz, Sr., the noted Atlanta Civil War historian and artist who was hired by David O. Selznick to be the Historical Consultant for the 1939 production of "Gone with the Wind." Kurtz was hired at the urging of Margaret Mitchell and his name appears in the opening credits of the film. Kurtz was also instrumental in helping Mitchell on matters of historical accuracy while she was writing her novel.
