Description

The Rocky Marciano Special 'Boxing Glove' Pendant from "Rocky III" and "Rocky V." Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/United Artists, 1982, 1990. Silver metal; gifted to Stallone by actor/comedian Joey Bishop after the first "Rocky" film came out in 1976 with Bishop relaying the story that he received it from boxer Rocky Marciano years before; Stallone then used this same pendant years later in the scene in "Rocky V" when "Mickey" [Burgess Meredith] gives it to "Rocky" -- in the film, "Mickey" says he got it from Rocky Marciano, thus bringing the real life tale into the film's storyline; additionally, Stallone wears it throughout the rest of the film; later Stallone had this pendant displayed on his bedroom wall after filming wrapped on "Rocky V" in 1990.

"This was given to me by a famous comedian, Joey Bishop, who was part of the Rat Pack. We were on a show together and he says, "I saw Rocky and I really loved it. Rocky Marciano would have loved this movie and he gave me something and I want to give it to you" -- so he gave me (this pendant). And I decided to write a scene in the movie where Mickey gives me this. So it's a piece of the real Rocky through the Rocky movie and continues to live on."
