Description

The American Scream (The Audio/Video Plus Collection) VHS 1988 - CGC Home Video 8.0 and Seal A, Slipcase, LRB Seal, Innovid. The 1988 film The American Scream is a darkly comedic and satirical take on the American Dream. Set in a seemingly idyllic suburban neighborhood, the film follows the lives of three eccentric and disillusioned individuals, each grappling with their own version of the American Dream. As their seemingly perfect lives unravel, they embark on a bizarre and hilarious journey of self-discovery and self-destruction. With sharp wit and a blend of social commentary, The American Scream offers a biting critique of consumerism, conformity, and the pursuit of happiness in the land of opportunity.

Audio/Video Plus first opened in Houston in 1979 as one of Houston's first retail and rental video stores. By 1984, the store was voted among the Top 12 in the country by Video Store Magazine. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Audio/Video Plus kept the home video market thriving with a variety of in-store promotions and celebrity events. Jane Fonda, Lou Ferrigno, Evel Knievel, and Star Trek's George Takei all spent time in the store greeting customers and signing autographs for Houston's true cinephiles. Audio/Video Plus closed permanently in October 2012 after amassing a rental library of more than 60,000 titles and thousands of unsold factory-sealed VHS and Beta tapes, making it one of the largest collections of movies in the country. Sourced from one the country's oldest and longest running video stores, The Audio/Video Plus Collection represents more than 30 years of video store history.
