Raiders of the Lost Ark is a 1981 adventure film directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones for the first time. The story introduces us to archaeologist and adventurer Indiana Jones, who is hired by the U.S. government to go on a quest for the mystical lost Ark of the Covenant. Accompanied by his old friend Sallah (John Rhys-Davies) and ex-flame Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), he must retrieve the ark before the Nazis and his adversary, French archaeologist Rene Belloq (Paul Freeman) acquire it first. The original film sparked waves of interest in old 1930s style cliffhanger serials, leading to three sequel films (with a fourth on the way) and a television series.This 1986 VHS copy of Raiders of the Lost Ark was part of Paramount's Special Collector's Series that were released in special black and gold foil boxes for their 75th Anniversary. This copy has side Paramount Home Video watermarks and has received an overall grade of 80+ NM with a Box subgrade of 80 and a Seal subgrade of 85.
