DescriptionPlayboy Vintage Binder w/Issues #2-12 (1954). Copies of the first year of Playboy are the most difficult to find, especially in nice condition. Many of the copies in this lot rival in appearance the finest representatives we've ever seen for the specific issues. The second issue is essentially as scarce as issue #1, for which only about 50,000 were printed.
Also included with these prized issues is an original first edition Playboy magazine binder. The interior of the binder originally had metal separators to hang individual issues. These were removed some years ago when the owner noticed wear on the inside of the issues where the metal had rubbed against the pages of the magazines. Otherwise, the binder is in Very Good to Fine condition, with minimal wear along the outside spines.
Inside each issue, the owner reinforced with tape the worn area at the top and bottom of the affected pages (two pages in each issue) of the issues to preclude further wear. Otherwise, the condition of each issue is as follows: #2 (FN), #3 (FN+), #4 (VG/FN, with "64" written in pencil on back cover), #5 (FN/VF), #6 (VF-), #7 and 8 (VF/NM), #9 (NM-), #10 and 11 (VF/NM), and #12 (FN/VF). These issues from 1954, already scarce, can only get more scarce, meaning nice copies like these will become more and more sought after.
