Description
Personal book-bound script for The Chairman (20th Century-Fox, 1969). Vintage original 129-page script, undated. Screenplay by Ben Maddow, based on the novel by Jay Richard Kennedy. The present script was custom-bound for Mr. Peck's personal library in dark green leatherette with title and Mr. Peck's name stamped in gilt on the front board. Spine stamped in gilt with five raised bands. With 17 gelatin silver glossy 7.5" x 9.5" production stills from the film tipped to pages bound-in. Lower board corners rubbed and a few light scuffs to the boards. Very Fine. This film was the fourth and final pairing of Gregory Peck with director J. Lee Thompson. Permission to shoot this spy film in China was refused and so the production was partly shot in Hong Kong, but communist protests and a bomb threat, resulted in some guerrilla filmmaking to get the scenes completed on location there before moving to Taiwan.
Please note that while not a studio presentation script, the present script was custom bound for Mr. Peck's personal library and features his name stamped in gilt on the front board.
