Kathryn Bigelow's 1987 southwestern vampire masterpiece, Near Dark, centers on a small-town farm boy who inadvertently falls in with a band of nomadic vampires. Bigelow's take on vampires jettisons quaffed counts and castles and portrays them as dirty and dangerous predators who do what they must to get by. The result is a blood-soaked masterpiece with wonderful direction, writing and performances by all involved.This 1987 VHS copy of Near Dark has received a Box grade of 8 NM and a Seal grade of 8.5 MINT by IGS.
