Description
Misery VHS 1991 - CGC Home Video 9.4 and Seal A, Slipcase, Horizontal Overlap Seal, The Motor City Collection, Columbia Tristar Home Video. Misery is a gripping 1990 thriller based on Stephen King's novel, telling the chilling tale of novelist Paul Sheldon, who is held captive by his psychotic fan, Annie Wilkes. After a car accident leaves him injured and helpless, Paul becomes the captive of Annie's sinister obsession with his work. Based on King's internal demons -- exacerbated by his drug use -- Annie was the ultimate naysayer of a creative professional. Fans have universally acclaimed the film for its tension-filled storytelling, Kathy Bates' unforgettable Oscar-winning performance as Annie, and James Caan's portrayal of the tormented author. Misery has become a classic in the psychological thriller genre, cherished by fans for its relentless suspense and exploration of the darker side of fandom, making it an enduring favorite among aficionados of Stephen King adaptations. This factory sealed 1991 Columbia Tristar VHS copy of Misery is believed to be the second release of the film after the 1991-dated Nelson release. It comes to us as part of The Motor City Collection, CGC Home Video's first Pedigree. The Motor City Collection is especially remarkable due to the fact that original purchaser would typically write the date that the item was purchased on the price tag, sometimes along with the store name or the street that the store was located on. Based on the handwritten notes on the price tag, this tape was originally purchased on 7-3-92 at a Meijer location in Michigan. It has received a grade of 9.4 by CGC, with a Seal grade of A.
The Motor City Collection is CGC Home Video's first VHS pedigree. The gentleman who originally assembled this unbelievable collection had purchased items as far back as the 1970s beginning with vinyl records. He would typically go out of his way to write the date of purchase on the price tags, as well as other identifiable info like a city, street, or store name. His collection was unknown to even his family until his passing. The majority of the items he'd purchased remained unopened in their original factory shrink wrap.
