    Description

Mark Hellinger's Early Underwood Typewriter. An essential part of Hellinger's life, this Underwood model #5 saw him through his early years as a sleep-deprived Broadway journalist in the heart of Manhattan. The articles and short stories Hellinger belted out on this machine were notoriously filled with "blind items" and ironic, O. Henry-esque wordplay. The serial number (3794689-5) dates the machine to a 1930 year of production. In overall Very Good condition, accompanied by two images of Hellinger posing with the typewriter. From the Mark Hellinger Archive.
