Description

Jilly Rizzo Personal Invitation Plaque to Frank Sinatra's 40th Anniversary Celebration at Caesars Palace. On December 12, 1979 -- Frank Sinatra's 64th birthday -- Caesars Palace was the venue for a celebration of his 40th year in show business. VIP attendees received a special, elaborate invitation, made of acrylic with a gold bas-relief of Ol' Blue Eyes and a gold-on-black summons to appear for the event. During the event, Jilly Rizzo was responsible for making sure that the likes of Lucille Ball, Milton Berle, Cary Grant, Don Rickles, and Orson Welles were well taken care of. NBC was on hand to tape the performance for a two-hour TV special.
This pristine acrylic invitation, 6.75" x 9", is housed in its original box, complete with a label embossed to "Mr. Jilly Rizzo" and all the original inserts: a letter describing the invitation from Caesars Executive Vice President and COO Harry Wald, dated November 13, 1979, on Caesars Palace letterhead (including official gold seal); RSVP form; and Caesars Palace return envelope. Of all these official invitations sent out by Sinatra, this one to his best friend and confidant was the most important of all. The fact that it remained unused proves that it was merely a courtesy when it came to Jilly! This invitation was in the possession of Jilly Rizzo from 1979 until his death in 1992, when it became part of his estate archive. In Very Fine condition. From the Jilly Rizzo Estate Archive. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from William Rizzo.
