Description

James Dean Signed High School Graduation Yearbook (1949). Vintage original gold hardback Fairmount High School yearbook. James Dean graduated from Fairmount High School in Fairmount, Indiana in 1949. During his time in high school, he participated in sports and drama, and was also known for his love of cars. One of his greatest achievements in high school was winning a public speaking contest in 1949, which earned him a trip to California to compete in the national finals. He also played basketball and baseball and acted in several school plays. After high school, James Dean attended Santa Monica College in California for one semester before dropping out to pursue his acting career full-time. Despite his brief time in college, he continued to study acting and was eventually accepted into the prestigious Actors Studio in New York City. James Dean went on to become a cultural icon and a legendary actor, known for his performances in films such as Rebel Without a Cause, Giant, and East of Eden. He is considered one of the most talented actors of his generation, and his untimely death at the age of 24 only added to his mystique and legend. Dean signed above his portrait on the debate club page. He is also pictured in the Boris Karloff-inspired Frankenstein monster make-up for an appearance at a Halloween carnival held at the high school. The book is also signed by Dean's classmates on various pages. Autograph is being sold as is without warranty. Yearbook measures approx. 8.75" × 11.25". Exhibits age, bumped corners, toning and handling. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
