Edgar G. Ulmer Taped Interview by Peter Bogdanovich, plus Ulmer's Original Business Card and his Self-Prepared Resume. In 1970, Peter Bogdanovich, following the success of his film Targets (1968) and prior to the release of The Last Picture Show (1971), conducted this lengthy and historic interview with Edgar Ulmer, two years before Ulmer's death. The compelling result originally appeared in Film Culture magazine and was later published in the books Kings of the Bs (1975) and Bogdanovich's Who the Devil Made It? (1997). Ulmer discusses his entire career, offers anecdotes on The Black Cat, Detour, and most of his key films, talks about his Yiddish movies, PRC sojourn and much more -- closing with his reflection, "I really am looking for absolution for all the things I had to do for money's sake." The interview is contained on three CDs and contains extensive anecdotes that were not published due to space. Accompanied by a release to Arianne Ulmer Cipes signed by Bogdanovich. The only surviving recorded interview with Ulmer -- and fascinating film history! Additionally, the lot contains a marvelous artifact -- Ulmer's business card, that he used when he first came to the U.S. in the 1920s. Finally, included is the resume Ulmer prepared of his film work when applying for his directors' pension. All in Excellent condition. From the Edgar G. Ulmer Preservation Corp. Accompanied by an LOA from Arianne Ulmer Cipes.
