    Description

Bud Westmore Designed Rosemary's Baby Head. "Pray for Rosemary's Baby" read the posters when that classic horror film, starring Mia Farrow, directed by Roman Polanski, and based on Ira Levin's best-seller, diabolically haunted theaters in 1968. Audiences never actually saw the spawn of Satan, but, originally, they were supposed to. As Mrs. Bud Westmore remembers it, Bud had received the very odd challenge of fashioning a head and face for the infant Antichrist. He designed and molded this 5" tall piece -- no horns or blatantly demonic features (other than very eerie eyes). Polanski ultimately decided not to show the baby; instead, Rosemary gasps when she first sees him, but Polanski leaves the appearance to the audience's imagination. The never-photographed head peacefully returned to the Westmore archive. Although Westmore received no credit on the film, Mrs. Westmore says that Bud also worked on creating Ms. Farrow's pregnant belly-piece for the film. The head has an uncanny presence about it, as if it's fantasizing of the movie history infamy it might have won, but never did. Awesomely eerie to behold. In Very Fine to Excellent condition with a few minor dings. Accompanied by an LOA from Jeannie Westmore.
