Description
Brown Derby Salt and Pepper Shakers and Ashtray (ca. 1950s). Vintage original group of (3) collectible items from the historic Brown Derby restaurant in Los Angeles, California, including (1) slip cast ceramic glazed ashtray measuring 5.5" x 3.5" and featuring a brown derby hat perched atop the rim, with green felt protective rounds on the bottom and stamped "422" on the underside, and (2) ceramic salt and pepper shakers, each in the shape of a brown derby hat measuring 2.5" x 3.5" x 2", with dotted "S" and "P" openings on the tops, respectively. Each with imprinted "Hollywood Calif." on the bottom. The Brown Derby existed in several locations and was famous for its programmatic architecture that served as hotspots for the who's-who from Hollywood's Golden Age. These relics of the midcentury establishments are in vintage condition showing some signs of use and wear with some scuffs to the ashtray from use though overall wonderfully preserved.
