Bela Lugosi Stubborn King David Program, 1903. It's February 10, 1903, the troupe is the National Actors Company of Transylvania, the theater is in Budapest, and 20-year-old Bela Lugosi is playing the role of "Carafia Antonio, fogeneralis" in Kurucz Feja David -- which translates as Stubborn King David. This remarkably intact 12" x 17" program lists the actors, all 31 of them, and it's awesome to see the name of "Lugosi Bela" on this handsome paper from more than 105 years ago. The program advertises the "operette" Boszorkanyvar as the next night's attraction. There are a few very tiny tears (no paper missing) and several barely perceptible smudges; otherwise, it is in Fine condition. This poster looks basically like it did over a century ago, when Bela Lugosi was acting for a troupe from Transylvania - but had no idea he'd win worldwide fame as Count Dracula.
