Description

Apollo 13 (Universal, 1995), Lunar Module Glass Crew Gift to Director Ron Howard for Apollo 13. "Houston, we have a problem." This pivotal line marks the beginning of trouble for the intrepid crew of the Apollo 13 lunar mission. Spoken by Tom Hanks as Commander Jim Lovell, in one of his signature roles, alongside a stellar cast including Kevin Bacon as Command Module Pilot Jack Swigert and Bill Paxton as Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise, this true-to-life story was Ron Howard's crowning directorial achievement to date. It is also the film that etched his reputation as one of Hollywood's finest directors.
Offered here is a replica of the lunar module glass, fashioned after the one seen in the original film. The triangular piece, measuring approx. 21" x 21" x 24", features the sandblasted title of the film Apollo 13 on one side of the glass, along with painted details of a multicolored perspective grid on the righthand side. On a black piece of cardstock underneath, various members of the film crew wrote meaningful congratulatory wishes to the director, including cinematographer Dean Cundey and various camera operators. Provenance: Obtained directly from Ron Howard. 100% of the proceeds of this lot will go directly to the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
