According to Beatrice Welles, nobody ever "made up" her father -- only he himself did his make-up throughout his career, for both stage and screen. Much of the make-up in this lot was used by him for his title role in "Falstaff - Chimes at Midnight" which was released in 1967 by Peppercorn-Wormser Film Enterprises. One of his personal favorite films, he won the '20th Anniversary Prize' and the 'Technical Grand Prize' at the Cannes Film Festival for his role of "Falstaff," and he was further nominated for a 'Palme d'Or' as well as for a 'Best Foreign Actor' BAFTA [British Academy of Film and Television Arts].
