Though it is unknown why, MGM decided to sell this collection of prop 'Crown Jewels' which they did via Beverly Hills auctioneer and appraiser, Roy J. Goldenberg. The current owner's father [an important executive at MGM from the 1930s to the 1960s] bought the whole grouping outright as evidenced by original 1955 receipts from Goldenberg. Also included are various other notes, inventories, and appraisals related to this unique collection.
