A Steve McQueen Group of Correspondence, 1960s-1970s. Including (in chronological order): 1) a Western Union telegram sent to Wayne, dated "1966 Nov 27," inviting him to a party at McQueen's Brentwood house; 2) typed on personalized stationery, sent to JW in Beverly Hills, CA, dated "May 16, 1969," reading in part "Sorry I couldn't make it to the Directors Guild to / honor you on the occasion of your 40th anniversary / in films and for the screening of True Grit. The / reports are great on the picture," signed in black felt-tip ink in the lower right corner "Steve," with its original transmittal envelope; 3) typed on personalized stationery, sent to JW in North Hollywood, CA, dated "June 12, 1970," reading in part "...because of you I ended up with a year's / supply of Baskin & Robbins ice cream. I owe you one for / that. / Take it slow," signed in same manner; with its original transmittal envelope; 4) a file copy of a letter Wayne sent to McQueen, dated "September 23, 1977," reading "Would you please send him a picture of me/ from Bullitt. / I will be forever grateful;" 5) a photocopy of a fan letter that a ten year old boy sent to Wayne reading in part "Dear Mr. Wayne / I love the movie Bulit [sic] and / I thought your acting was great. I would like to know / if I could have a autograph- / ed picture of you;" Wayne thinking this funny enough to send on to McQueen (who hopefully sent the confused kid a signed photo).
