DescriptionA Marilyn Monroe-Received Letter from Jean Negulesco, 1958. Two pages, typed on personalized stationery, dated "July 14, 1958," to MM at the Bel Air Hotel from her three-time director, regarding a book Negulesco sent to MM that he wanted to adapt into a film role for her, reading in part "The thing of ' The Midwife of Pont Clary' is fundementally [sic] sex...I have quite an exciting idea for the treatment of the story...I would like to sit down and talk to you about it...Please give this book to Arthur [Miller] to read...;" signed in black fountain pen ink in the lower right side "Jean." Not surprisingly, this movie was never made -- probably because MM was specifically trying to avoid roles that were "fundamentally sex" in her later career.
