A Marilyn Monroe Grave Marker, Circa 1990s. Made of weighty bronze (approximately 4 pounds), rectangular-shaped, painted brown, simple gold-painted decorative border, raised lettering on front reads "Marilyn Monroe / 1926-1962," raised lettering on back reads "Make Two Patterns For Marge" [margin or edge], further engraved text reads "415 Westwood" [likely the plot number at the cemetery]; removed from the star's crypt at Pierce Brothers Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery in Los Angeles, California in the mid-1990s to be replaced with a new one due to the amount of wear Monroe's plaque received from thousands of visitors; obtained directly by an employee of the cemetery 20+ years ago and consigned to this auction by her. (Please note there is slight paint loss on bottom edge and gilt on lettering is worn off.)
    4 1/2" x 15"

Interestingly, another one of Monroe's grave markers recently sold at Julien's Auctions in Beverly Hills, sale titled "Hollywood Legends," June 26-27, 2015, Lot 1040, final price realized was an astounding $212,500!
