A John Wayne Signed Prop Rifle from "The Alamo." United Artists, 1960. Made of wood and metal, simulating an 1830s-era gun, signed in black felt tip ink on one side of the stock"Marlin / It's from / the Alamo / John Wayne / 1975," and on the other side "John Wayne," stock further stamped "Batjac" [Wayne's production company which made the film]; included is a short note, typed on personalized letterhead, dated "June 10, 1975," reading in part "Dear (Marlin) Rowe: / Mr. Wayne has asked that I let you know that he will be more than happy to autograph the rifle...," signed by Pat Stacy [Wayne's longtime secretary], included with its original transmittal envelope. (Please note this prop gun was purposely distressed for film use.)

PROVENANCE:
The current owner inherited this rifle from his father-in-law, Marlin Rowe, a contractor who did a number of projects for John Wayne at both his Batjac offices in Hollywood and his home in Newport Beach, California. Wayne signed and gifted this prop to Rowe as a thank you.
