A John Wayne 'Bib' Shirt from "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." Paramount, 1962. Made of navy blue wool, long sleeves, ten button 'bib' front, Western Costume Co. label reads "No. 2682-3 / John Wayne #3 / Chest 46 / C-2-;" worn as Wayne portrayed "Tom Doniphon" in the film directed by John Ford and co-starring James Stewart, Vera Miles, and Lee Marvin; likely worn in other films as well; featured in the artwork for the film's poster. (Please note shirt has a number of moth holes due to age.)

This shirt now has white buttons on the 'bib' portion, though they're not the original ones seen in "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance." Wayne likely had them replaced for a later television or public appearance or perhaps the buttons were changed for a different actor's use. Interestingly, Wayne wore this 'bib' style shirt frequently but stopped using them in films after the 1965 Paramount release of "The Sons of Katie Elder."
