Including: 1) a letter dated "September 25, '65" sent by Didion to Robert Goodfried at Paramount Pictures asking him to handle a fan's request for a signed photograph of Wayne because the request made her "too sad to / contemplate," signed in red felt-tip ink in the lower right corner "Joan;" 2) the fan's "sad" letter to Didion asking for the Wayne signed photograph; 3) a file copy of a letter dated "September 28, 1965" that Wayne sent to Didion thanking her for her article about "Old Duke.../Having a woman write like that about a / fellow doesn't hurt his ego a bit;" 4) a clipping of that article (possibly from Life magazine); and 5) a clipping of Didion's movie review of "The Alamo" from The National Review -- who knew Duke and Didion were friendly?
