DescriptionA Joan Crawford Early Signed Sepia Photograph, Circa 1925. An original print with a matte finish, depicting the star in a vampy pose when she was about twenty years old, inscribed in black fountain pen on the right side "Love and worlds / of success from / one who admires / you Norma / Always / Lucile," photographer's blindstamp in the lower right corner reads "De Mirjian, N.Y." (Please note there are a few pinholes and three small specks of dirt on surface, but image and signature are not affected.)
10" x 8"
The current owner's mother, Norma, knew the young Lucille LeSueur when they were both showgirls in New York City in the 1920s when her friend (the soon-to-be Joan Crawford) signed this photograph for her. Interestingly, Crawford's birth name is always spelled "Lucille" with two 'l's, but according to her marriage certificate to Douglas Fairbanks, Jr. in 1929, she spelled her first name with only one 'l' as this inscription indicates.
