Including (in chronological order): 1) handwritten in blue ballpoint ink on personalized stationery, dated "Nov. 30, 1970," reading in part "The show was great and all the / Cagneys are sending along congratulations.../ You were everything that was required...;" signed in the lower margin "Jim Cagney;" 2) typed on plain stationery, sent to JW in Santa Fe, NM, dated "May 25, 1971," reading in part "Good to hear from you. / Caught the Plimpton job and / am sure it will serve its purpose;" signed in black ballpoint pen in the lower right corner "Jim;" 3) typed on personalized stationery, sent to JW at the UCLA Medical Center, Los Angeles, CA, dated "January 19, 1979," reading in part "Keep punching and keep adoing [sic] / We are all / pulling for you and I bring you regards from Frank McHugh, / with whom you worked many, many years ago [in the 1933 Warner Bros. film, "The Telegraph Trail"]. He remembers / you very warmly," signed in same manner; with its original transmittal envelope; 4) a 'confirmation copy' of a mailgram Wayne sent to Cagney, dated "04/02/79," reading in part "Dear Jimmy, / I hope your sciatic problem is not serious. It was probably caused by / bumping your buttocks along the basement floor in that exercise you / showed us years ago. Get healthy and come say hello. / Duke;" nice letters between two old pals who never made a movie together.
