Description
A Henry Hathaway Collection of Photo Albums and Scrapbooks Related to His Films, 1932-1955. Sixteen albums; all bound in maroon leather; each with a film title embossed in gold ink on the spine; each filled with an assortment of ephemera related to that film including press clippings, newspaper articles, telegrams, letters, production notes, personal snapshots, and (most interestingly) countless original print black and white stills showing never-before-seen behind-the-scenes images of the cast and crew of Hathaway-directed films including (in alphabetical order): "The Black Rose" (1950) (two binders), "The Desert Fox" (1951), "Diplomatic Courier" (1952), "Fourteen Hours" (1951) (two binders), "Heritage of the Desert" (1932), "The Lives of a Bengal Lancer" (1935), "O. Henry's Full House" (1952), "Prince Valiant" (1954), "The Racers" (1955), "Rawhide" (1951), "Shepherd of the Hills" (1941), Silent Pictures, "U.S.S. Teakettle" (re-titled to "You're in the Navy Now") (1951), and "White Witch Doctor" (1953); some albums have more clippings than photographs -- the collection must be seen in person as our catalogue illustration does not do it justice. (Please note the leather albums are now in somewhat tattered condition, but the inside items are not affected.)Each Binder: 12" x 9"
