Description

A G.I. Joe First Dressed Air Force Prototype Action Figure, Palitoy/Hasbro, 1964. This early prototype is nearly identical to the final production run including the orange jumpsuit, black boots, and blue fatigue cap; the figurine has the larger 'soft' head, the small hands and feet, the articulated joints and waist, the black hair in nearly perfect condition, and the eyebrows with very little "rubbing;" the dog tag is vintage to the figure, but the jumpsuit and the boots are an aftermarket replacement -- the jumpsuit by "Hasbro / Hong Kong" but the boots not produced by Hasbro; most interestingly, the blue plastic fatigue cap lacks the embossed numeral on the inside of the hat, marking this as a very early prototype; the figurine itself is stamped on the back "Made in England / By Palitoy / Under License From / Hasbro 1964." (Please note there is average wear and no cracks at the knees.)
Length: 12". PROVENANCE: From the personal collection of Don Levine, creator of G.I. Joe, directly to the present owner. Comes with a COA from Heritage Auctions.
