Description

A Collection of "Scarlett O'Hara" Dolls by Pete Ballard, Circa 1960s. Six total, all made of papier-mâché with hand-painted faces by the celebrated costume designer, doll maker, and painter, each one with an actual fabric dress replicating ones Vivien Leigh wore in the film including: 1) the white dress from the Tara porch, 2) the 'green sprig' barbeque dress, 3) the black mourning dress, 4) the 'killing the Yankee soldier' dress, 5) the 'green curtain' dress, and 6) the 'Ashley birthday' dress; also included is one "Mammy" doll dressed in her formal uniform; all on wooden stands and bases (meaning they have no legs); interestingly, Ballard spent six years looking for just the right red velvet for the 'birthday' dress and he acquired other materials for these dolls directly from Walter Plunkett and Vivien Leigh.
    Height: 40"

Please note if you are the successful bidder, you will have to arrange for your own shipping of this lot from Heritage's Dallas office as all the dolls are housed in their own, huge wooden crates there. Also, please note these dolls will NOT be on display at Heritage's Beverly Hills preview.
