A first edition, hardcover, with dust jacket, published by Doubleday in 1952, 448 pages, written by Edna Farber and used as the basis for the classic 1956 film; from the personal library of gossip columnist, Louella O. Parsons, who obtained the signatures in person while visiting the set; signed in various colors of ballpoint ink on the front free end pages by all the main players including James Dean (who writes"To a 'Giant' of / a heart / my thanks / James Dean"), Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, Mercedes McCambridge, Jane Withers (who writes a full page inscription mentioning her character "Vashi"), George Stevens [director and producer], and Henry Ginsburg [producer] -- overall, an important piece from a beloved film. (Please note there is minor edge wear with small chips in the bottom of the spine, beneath the dust jacket.)
