A Carole Lombard / Marjorie Woodworth Make-Up Case, Circa 1930s. Made of wood trimmed in black leather; with a handle on top; case opens to reveal compartments and drawers that are all filled with 1930s-era Max Factor make-up, most of which is still in its original packaging and has never been used (though some has been used); the products are mostly familiar, though they have somewhat odd names by today's standards like "Pan-Cake Make-Up," "Dry Rouge," "Moist Rouge," "Brillox," "Black Tooth Enamel," "Erace," "Grease Paint," "Lining," "Plasto," "Flexible Collodion," "Spirit Gum," and "Panchromatic Blood" (the weirdest one), among others; also enclosed in box are false eyelashes, faux hair (in different-colored braids), faux mustaches, and other items a stage or screen performer would need.
Case: 12" x 16" x 8"

PROVENANCE:
According to a 1942 newspaper clipping inside this case, "a movie troupe presented the late Carole Lombard with (this) new makeup kit...she gave the box to her hairdresser, Loretta Francelle...(who gave it to) Marjorie Woodworth, Hal Roach's starlet;" Woodworth then willed it to her relative, our current consignor.
