    Description

1978 Muhammad Ali "Three Times World Champion" Ring Presented to Drew "Bundini" Brown. First there was Liston, a bruising underworld thug expected to detach the young Cassius Clay's head from his shoulders. Then there was Foreman, expected to do much the same at the famed "Rumble in the Jungle." And, finally, there was Leon Spinks, who claimed a fifteen-round decision in February 1978 to take the belt, and then surrendered it again in the August rematch to complete Ali's unprecedented trifecta.

Presented is one of the most coveted Muhammad Ali artifacts in the collecting hobby, commissioned by The Champ to mark his third trip to the mountain top. Only Ali himself, his training staff and a small handful of VIP's were beneficiaries of this rare and important gift, and this particular example was personally presented to the man who was arguably Ali's closest friend and confidante from 1963 through the end of his career, cornerman Drew "Bundini" Brown, played by Jamie Foxx in the Will Smith biopic.

The regal design is dominated by a large genuine diamond set within a red stone on the face, with three smaller diamonds representing each Heavyweight Championship attained by boxing's greatest name. "M. Ali, World Champion Three Times" dances the perimeter of the face. Left shank identifies the owner as "Brown, Assistant Trainer to Muhammad Ali 60-79." Right shank announces "Muhammad Ali, S. Liston-G. Foreman-L. Spinks, '64, '74, '78." Interior band is stamped "10k Jostens." Size eleven (11).

"I met Bundini Brown, who was Ali's celebrated corner man. He invented the famous quote "float like a butterfly, sting like a bee." He had fallen on some hard times and sold me these two rings in the early eighties."
