Marilyn Monroe "Myself Exercising" Original Signed Self-Portrait Artwork (1956). Vintage original artwork accomplished in watercolor on 10.35" x 7.75" artists leaf tipped to 10.45" x 8" backing board, signed below image, "Marilyn Monroe Miller Sep 56" in blue ink.

Created by Monroe for a children's charity auction to benefit the Actors' Orphanage Fund (now the Actors' Children's Trust) whilst filming The Prince and the Showgirl. Laurence Olivier, president of the charity, was the auctioneer for
    the event.

The artwork was purchased by none other than prolific playwright Sir Terence Rattigan, who wrote the screenplay for The Prince and the Showgirl which was adapted from his play The Sleeping Prince. Marilyn Monroe was certainly ahead of her time when it came to exercise and fitness. LIFE magazine photographer Philippe Halsman famously captured numerous images of Marilyn working out with weights in 1952.

In vintage Fine condition. Provenance: From the collection of Sir Terence Rattigan. COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Gene London Cinema Collection.
