Jumanji original screen-used "carry board" game with letter from director Joe Johnston. (TriStar, 1995) Original vintage "carry" game board prop from the fantasy adventure film beloved by a generation, Jumanji. Central to this dark and mystical story adapted from the Chris Van Allsburg children's book, is this Jumanji board game - the catalyst for all the magic that infuses the journey. This is a reduced-weight "carry board" version of the game, made to be handled (primarily by Robin Williams as "Alan Parrish") during filming to prevent the heavy wooden hero game board from being dropped, damaged or injuring the actors during strenuous scenes in the course of production. The instantly recognizable game board is constructed of cast rigid polyfoam made to appear as carved and painted wood. The prop features a barn door-style hinged split lid with both doors opening to reveal the central game board featuring carved and painted leaf pattern background surface with playing path of segmented spaces for tokens. A 4 in. round raised green glass dome, apparently the bottom of a bottle, appears inset at the game board's center. The interior door panels exhibit rules on one panel, "Jumanji a game for those who seek to find a way to leave their world behind. You roll the dice to move your token. Doubles get another turn. The first player to reach the end wins." and a warning on the other panel, "Adventurers Beware: Do not begin unless you intend to finish. The exciting consequences of the game will vanish only when a player has reached Jumanji and called out its name." The exterior of the board when closed exhibits exotic carved animal and jungle scene motifs with the Jumanji logo appearing at the center. When closed the compact board forms its own carrying case. Board measures 26 x 16.5 x 1.75 when fully open and 12.5 x 16.5 x 3.5 when closed. Comes with a COA from director Joe Johnston and Studio Executive Michael Bessman. Johnston has repaired one of the damaged hinges. Exhibiting signs of age and production-wear. In screen-used, vintage very good condition. Special shipping arrangements will apply.
