John Wayne "Rooster Cogburn" eye patch from True Grit. (Paramount, 1969) Vintage original signature character eye patch created by costumer Luster Bayless for John Wayne in his Oscar-winning role as the hard-drinking Marshall. Constructed of leather and suede. A hole is cut in the eye patch and covered with black wire mesh serving as a see-through scrim for Wayne while maintaining the appearance of a solid canvas patch. Measures approx. 30 in. long from end to end of leather tie used to affix the patch to the wearer's face. The iconic costume piece exhibits only minor production wear. In vintage very good condition.
