John Rhys-Davies "Gimli" Helmet from The Lord of the Rings trilogy. (New Line Cinema, 2001-2003) Dwarves are expert miners and blacksmiths and their armor reflects these skills. Functional as well as beautiful, each Dwarf's armor is a work of art and this signature helmet worn by "Gimli" (John Rhys-Davies) is a prime example. The prop helmet is decorated with an intricate geometric star motif, with 'Star' being the literal translation of "Gimli's" name in the ancient Dwarven language of "Khuzdul". This incredibly detailed and painted urethane, leather, and metal helmet was hand-made by the skilled craftspeople at Weta Workshop's armory department during the production of The Lord of the Rings trilogy. The helmet is lined for the wearer's comfort and exhibits minor wear from use and paint chipping on the back area of the brass-colored plates. Measuring 10 x 8 in. round, this helmet was designed by Daniel Falconer and Ngila Dickson and made by Shaun Bolton and Bob Buck under the art direction of Sir Richard Taylor of Weta Workshop, the Academy Award-winning prop house responsible for the creation of the hundreds of thousands of props needed for filming The Lord of the Rings trilogy. Originally procured by official New Line Cinema licensee, United Cutlery directly from Weta Workshop during the filming of The Lord of the Rings for reference use in producing a collectible replica version for fans. Accompanied by a detailed Certificate of Authenticity from the licensee confirming the history of this prop and its use in creating United Cutlery's Lord of the Rings Weapons and Armor line of reproductions as well as the original Weta shipping label to United Cutlery. Special shipping arrangements will apply.
