    A Buddy Lester Personally-Owned Trumpet, Circa 1940s. Brass, made by "G. LeBlanc / Paris," serial number "L 3706," further stamped "Made in France," facsimile signature rendered in silver-colored metal affixed to side of horn reads "Buddy Lester;" gifted to the comedian and character actor by his good friend, Chubby Jackson, the world-class bassist; Lester was a peripheral member of the Rat Pack and is best remembered for his work in numerous Jerry Lewis films including "The Ladies Man" (Paramount, 1961), "The Nutty Professor" (Paramount, 1963), "The Patsy" (Paramount, 1964), "Three on a Couch" (Columbia, 1966), and "The Big Mouth" (Columbia, 1967), among others, as well as his work in Frank Sinatra films including "Ocean's 11" (Warner Bros., 1960) and "Sergeants 3" (United Artists, 1962); Lester also had a long and prolific career in Las Vegas (where he was often Sinatra's opening act) and on television (where he guest-starred in countless series); this trumpet was obtained by the current owner directly from Lester's son who recollected that his father played this instrument regularly; housed in its own tan leather case, stenciled in black paint on the front "Buddy Lester;" included with a vintage print black and white photograph depicting Lester playing the trumpet as showgirls surround him plus a letter from Lester's son outlining the provenance of the piece.
