    Important Shakespearean productions (125+) vintage photographs. (1890s-1950s) Vintage oversize approx. 11 x 14 in. single- and double-weight photographs plus a special selection of smaller ca. 1900 cabinet cards (125+ total) illustrating six decades of Shakespeare productions on the American theatrical stage. Featured are six different productions of Romeo and Juliet beginning with Maude Adams in 1899, Eleanor Robson in 1903, Julia Marlowe in 1911, Jane Cowl in 1923, Eva Le Gallienne in 1930, and Olivia de Havilland in 1951, plus one or more productions each of Henry IV, Hamlet, Macbeth, Twelfth Night, King Henry VIII, King Richard II, The Merry Wives of Windsor, The Merchant of Venice, Taming of the Shrew, A Midsummer Night's Dream and Julius Caesar. Virtually all the great names associated with the history of Shakespearean stage performance, plus some normally thought of as film stars (Sydney Greenstreet in 1913, Lionel Barrymore in 1921, Maurice Evans in 1937, etc.) are represented throughout. Condition varies only slightly, with majority overall very good to fine.
