Description

Guardian maquette lion statue from A.I.: Artificial Intelligence. (Warner Bros., 2001) From Steven Spielberg's Sci-Fi homage to Stanley Kubrick comes this guardian lion and pedestal maquette for the structure seen at the end of A.I: Artificial Intelligence, in flooded Manhattan, NYC, standing sentry at a futuristic Rockefeller Plaza. The maquette figure exhibits the attention to detail and accuracy that are hallmarks of any Spielberg production. Consisting of (2) cast resin components. (1) Hollow 10 x 6.75 x 6.5 in. box pedestal with ornate deco-style motif and ornaments and (1) solid 6 x 7 in. robotically stylized roaring lion sitting on its haunches. Assembled, the statue stands a full 16 in. tall. Both pieces expertly painted in copper metallic hues with studio weathering. In the film, a number of these statues, portrayed as 10 stories high, are seen spraying fountains of water from their mouths into the flooded basin of the city. In fine condition.
