Group of (3) Mario Lanza outfits designed by Walter Plunkett made for The Student Prince. (MGM, 1951) 1. Dark blue wool period jacket with red collar and cuffs accented with gold bullion strips and leaf decoration. MGM label handwritten "M. LANZA 743-21018". Heathered dark blue wool pants with gold and red ribbon accent. No label. 2. Ivory wool period jacket with gold and black ribbon trim along front and cuffs. MGM label handwritten "M. LANZA 743-2101". Two inch tear along seam in back. Few small holes on shoulders where applets were attached. 3. Royal blue wool period jacket with red collar and cuffs accented with gold satin ribbon, gold bullion shoulder epaulets and eight gold metal buttons. MGM label handwritten "M. LANZA 743-2107". Coordinating pants with handwritten label "M. LANZA 743-2107 29-31 ½". Created by Walter Plunkett for Mario Lanza as "Prince Karl" but Lanza had a falling out with the director and was replaced by Edmund Purdom. However, the soundtrack was recorded by Lanza which Purdom lip synchs to.
