    Groucho Marx A Day at the Races and Special Appearance Swallowtail Coat (MGM, 1937). Vintage original black wool topcoat with peaked lapel, 1-slash chest pocket and blunt tails. Black grosgrain piping on lapel, pocket and 1-button front closure. Lined with black satin.

    This is one of the signature black swallowtail coats that comedian Groucho Marx wore in the 1937 Marx Brothers film classic A Day at the Races. Groucho also wore the coat for MGM publicity photo sessions, live taped radio broadcasts throughout the 1940's and live appearances during WWII when performing on tour for the troops, bond tours and on the Hollywood Victory Caravan tour. The coat was recently exhibited at the National Comedy Center in Jamestown, New York. COA from Heritage Auctions. From the Personal Collection of Groucho Marx.
