Description
Frank Sinatra designed gift jacket for his personal costumer. Frank Sinatra designed gift jacket for his personal costumer. This windbreaker was custom-made by order of Frank Sinatra for his personal costumer and longtime friend, Michael Castellano. The jacket is constructed of brown satin material with orange and white striped elastic cuffs, matching waistband, orange button snaps, and a custom patch on the left breast. The back of the jacket features the quote, "Living Well is the Best Revenge, F.T.A." embroidered in orange. This windbreaker was part of a limited edition designed by the entertainer for his closest friends and entourage. The phrase on the back was one of Sinatra's personal sayings, and the "F.T.A." at the bottom was an abbreviation for "F--- Them All", an indication of the performer's no-nonsense personality and brash sense of humor. Sinatra had a limited series of custom lapel pins made based on the patch design, which were also given to members of his entourage. Wearing the jacket or one of the pins provided Frank's friends with "all access passes" at casinos and hotels he frequented, and guaranteed VIP treatment in the city of Palm Springs where Sinatra's "Twin Palms" estate was located. This garment was acquired directly from Michael Castellano, who began working with the entertainer in 1976 and quickly became Sinatra's "right-hand man" performing numerous duties for the star while maintaining his stage and personal wardrobe collection. Mr. Castellano received this garment as a personal gift from Sinatra prior to leaving his service in 1981. The interior of the jacket has Castellano's initials "M.C." handwritten and the jacket is in very good condition with minor evidence of age. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from Mr. Castellano.Heritage Auctions provides as much information as possible but strongly encourages in-person inspection.
