Description

A Marilyn Monroe Never-Before-Seen Film from the Set of "Some Like It Hot," September, 1958. Shot on 8mm, taken while "SLIH" was actually being filmed outside the famed Hotel del Coronado (close to San Diego, California), 3:47 minutes in full though MM is not in every frame, about 1:35 minutes of footage shows MM in costume in front of the hotel as she walks around, talks to Jack Lemmon (in drag) and to Arthur Miller, then walks away from the camera towards Tony Curtis (in drag), about 1:38 minutes of footage shows MM and the girls from the band walking off the tram, and then about .02 seconds shows MM walking with Curtis into the hotel and another .02 seconds shows them a few steps later -- so overall about 3:13 minutes of footage where Marilyn can clearly be seen and, as usual, she looks stunning wearing a white, short-sleeved beaded dress, gloves, and a cloche hat; Joe E. Brown and possibly Billy Wilder can also be seen briefly; shot by the current consignor's father when the family was on vacation staying at the hotel at the opportune moment when this now-classic movie was being made; included is the vintage 1958-era film (which is in very good condition, remarkably clear with its color still vibrant) on a new white reel, its original 'Kodachrome' box with a handwritten annotation reading in part "Coronad(o) / Sept 1958 - Monroe," its original gray reel, and a DVD transfer of the footage; these few minutes of film are a fantastic way to get a glimpse of what this movie would have looked like if Marilyn got her way and "Some Like It Hot" was shot in color instead of black and white!
    Film Box: 4" x 3" x 1"
