Errol Flynn "Earl of Essex" signature sword from The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex. (Warner Bros., 1939) Vintage original hero steel prop sword highly visible throughout the movie as the weapon of choice for Flynn when fighting or sheathed at his hip. Consisting of 35.5 in. steel blade with an ornate 8.25 x 9 in. guard, pommel, and braided wire-wrapped grip. Guard has been plated in bronze and copper. Blade exhibits production use, handling and wear along edge and surface of blade. Rubbing and some loss of plating to grip portion. In vintage production used, very good condition.
