    Description

Elvis Presley "Steve Grayson" racing jumpsuit from Speedway. (MGM, 1968) Elvis Presley plays racecar driver "Steve Grayson" in the musical action film Speedway. This is Elvis' racing suit screen-worn by "the King" in his 27th feature film appearance. Consisting of a 1-piece ivory-colored racing suit with integral fabric and velcro waist belt, zippered diagonal chest pockets, velcro collar with faux buttons, two slash hip pockets, cotton stretch cuffs and zipper front closure. The character name "Steve" is embroidered in blue-threaded script over left chest, Costume retains the Hinchman, Indianapolis maker's bias label on the inside collar. Baby-blue silk fabric ribbon stripes are appliqued from shoulder to wrists of the sleeves and down the outer legs of the pants to the cuffs. Pant cuffs feature adjustable button straps. This costume is highly visible in Elvis' scenes at the racetrack and when he's racing. The costume is also seen throughout the trailers for the film. This studio-distressed version of the costume exhibits production wear and minor staining. Overall, in vintage, screen-used, very good condition. Originally acquired from the legendary 1970 MGM Auction.
