    Doug Irwin Screaming Dollar Sign custom-made Masterpiece electric guitar. (Doug Irwin, 1974) Custom made by Doug Irwin (noted luthier of "The Grateful Dead" founder and guitarist Jerry Garcia), one-of-a-kind electric guitar, master built for Bob O'Connor, lead guitarist of the 70's West Coast band "$27 Snap On Face". Constructed of a solid 3-layer maple body with dark, rich aged flame maple top and back with light maple center, carved in the shape of a US Dollar sign. Three piece thin, maple neck with two mahogany strips, beautifully grained walnut faced headstock with Irwin's famous Mother-of-Pearl inlaid "Eagle", as well as engraved metal Heart and "$27 / SNAP / ON / FACE" logo in abalone. Ebony fretboard, 21 frets, inlaid abalone world currency symbol position markers on fretboard, unique engraved tailpiece, hand-fashioned brass nut and Schaller tuners. Personal inlaid arrow pierced heart shaped mother-of-pearl inlay, engraved "Love Forever / Bob & Gailyn". ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, four controls (two volume and two tone), 3-way pickup selector switch, mounted on a brass control plate with circular engraving. Fully independent, stereophonic guitar with isolated passive pickup circuits, two Gibson Patent No. humbuckers. Two jack sockets on the back of the body for each pickup allows the signal from each to be processed and amplified separately, treble-horn houses a dedicated "protolab" area (non-active) accessible from the back cavity where future audio designs can be tested and incorporated with engraved brass cover. This incredible Artistic piece of Rock 'n' Roll history is all original with some fine finish checking and the back of the neck does not have any varnish coating as originally made and is in very good to fine condition, housed in the original hardshell case. Together with the original 1977 vinyl album "27 Snap On Face", copy 1977 "Creem" magazine reviewing the band and a copy of Guernsey's Rock Greats & Legends of the Big Screen auction catalog from October, 2002, with an estimated value of $40,000 - $60,000.
