Description
The Wild One (Columbia, 1953), a.k.a. The Cyclists' Raid, Revised Final Draft Screenplay. Vintage original Revised Final Draft screenplay from February 4, 1953, for Stanley Kramer's seminal outlaw biker film The Wild One starring Marlon Brando. 111-pages (as paginated) on crème mimeograph paper, bound and bradded in crème studio wraps. Cover typed "THE CYCLISTS' RAID" "COLUMBIA PROD NO. 8080 / (THE STANLEY KRAMER COMPANY, INC)" and dated "REVISED FINAL DRAFT / FEB. 4, 1953". Retains two additional stamps to cover reading "This Script is the property of Columbia Pictures Corp. When it has served your purpose return to Stenographic Dept." Stanley Kramer produced this 1953 adaptation of Frank Rooney's short story starring Marlon Brando as Johnny, the leader of a biker gang called the Rebels. It is recognized as the first outlaw biker movie and is credited with ushering in a style of men's fashion that inspired figures like James Dean and Elvis Presley and would become the definitive look of the 1950s. Production began on the film shortly after this draft was dated, which was written by John Paxton, although his name does not appear on the wraps or inner pages. The adaptation was written and filmed as The Cyclists' Raid after Rooney's short story, and the title was later changed to The Wild One ahead of the film's release in December 1953. Exhibiting signs of age and wear from use, including toning and scattered foxing, edgewear, stray marks, bumped corners, and creasing, including at the upper righthand cover.
